Mini Documentary - Anthony Simonsen Breaks PBA Record
The Situation
Anthony Simonsen, at the age of 19 years and 39 days, qualified for the top seed in the 2016 USBC Masters bowling tournament. If he were to win, he would break a 36-year-old record and become the youngest player in the history of the PBA Tour to win a major championship.
The Solution
This is a mini documentary conceived, shot and edited on short notice as Simonsen didn’t qualify for the top seed until mere hours before the finals took place. The piece follows him and his supporters throughout the day, from pre-telecast practice through the moment he achieves PBA history.
The Result
It’s too early to tell, but a high overnight view count is typically a good sign. The video sits on PBA’s YouTube channel and Xtra Frame subscription service and is generating revenue for the client.
