Mustaches and Bowling - Pete Weber Mockumentary

The Situation

For World Series of Bowling V in late 2013, the Professional Bowlers Association produced a YouTube show, The Bowling Center, as a new form of post-game show for each of the eight televised events. The Bowling Center recapped the recent telecast, previewed the next and threw in some attempts at comedy or, failing that, lightheartedness, for good measure.

The Solution

As co-writer of every episode with fellow lover of the absurd Jason Thomas, I realized the opportunity to investigate my fascination with bowling mustaches. This piece uses real stats to compare the career of Hall of Fame bowler Pete Weber, both when he sported a mustache and after he shaved the mustache.

The Result

One of the best-received comedy bits from the show, the mockumentary has been generating revenue for the PBA ever since.
